TELOMERES

Telomeres are protective protein structures that safeguard the DNA in our
cells. As our cells constantly regenerate throughout life, telomeres shorten
with each cell division. Once they become too short, it accelerates the
process of premature cellular aging. Two major signs of aging at the
cellular level are telomere shortening and cellular senescence. Shortened
telomeres are a key factor in the overall aging process within cells.
Telomere length serves as a marker of biological age, distinguishing it from
chronological age.
Research has shown a clear link between short telomeres and cellular
aging. As telomeres shorten, they limit the number of times a cell can
divide, which reduces the number of healthy cells in essential organs.
Critically short telomeres have been linked to a range of age-related
diseases. Hyperbaric therapy has been found to help counteract these
effects by promoting tissue regeneration, stimulating blood vessel growth,
and lengthening telomeres. It also enhances angiogenesis in areas where
circulation is impaired.
